Grades 1 - 3

DPS follows a validated open-entry model for CBSE school admissions. Admissions are on first come first serve basis and are based on age-eligibility.

Grades 4 - 5

After Grade 3, a competency level test is conducted to assess the child’s admission to a particular grade. For Grades 3 and 4, the subjects assessed are English, Math and Social Studies.

Grades 6 - 10

Grade 5 onward, a test for Hindi is also conducted. The results of the tests are used to determine the level of support the school needs to offer to ensure the child’s smooth transition into the new environment.

Admission Process

Prospective families are encouraged to first visit the school to determine if it would be a good fit for the student. If the family decides to go forward with the Admission process, the following steps occur

1. Shadowing Visit

The student visits the school for one full day, and then schedules a second visit at the recommendation of the teachers and admissions team. The student will be shadowing one or two students during the day as they attend classes. Parents schedule a meeting with our admissions coordinator during the first visit. The student is formally interviewed during the second or third visit by both a teacher and student member of the admissions team.

2. Application submitted

If the admissions coordinator, teaching team, student, and parents decide to move forward with the application, then the formal process begins. Parents and student submit the application online (recommended) or contact us if you have any more questions. In addition to the application, a copy of the student’s current transcripts and two letters of recommendation are required (at least one by a teacher).

3. Faculty review and Interviews

The application, references, and transcripts are reviewed by the admissions coordinator and teaching staff to determine if the school can likely meet the academic needs of the student. If the teachers feel TNS is a good fit for the student an interview is scheduled during the second or third visit with the student. If the teachers do not feel they can meet the student’s needs, the process ends and the family is notified by the Admissions Coordinator.

4. Admission Coordinator and Teacher Interview with student and family

The interview provides a chance for the family to ask in-depth questions about being a part of the school. The phases include discussing the Student Agreements at the school in addition to the time with the Admissions Coordinator to go over parent involvement and expectations. This interview may happen at any time during the visiting process and allows the family to also ask important questions.

Parents are a critical part of our school community. If a student is admitted, parents are asked to sign a contract regarding fundraising and participation in our governance system. We look forward to working with both parents and their children.
